It's fast approaching the Pollution Period - please think twice before setting fire to
"Garden Waste". (In fact there's no such thing: it can be composted and has locked
in nutrients which are destroyed by fire). We all depend on clean air so let's rid the
Particulate Carbons from our lungs and no smoke signals to Glasgow!
With this in mind it was agreed at the October Committee Meeting that
Bonfires/Incinerating should no longer be permitted on HwDAA sites from next April
Sir David Attenborough says we have: "a moral responsibility"!

COMPOSTING: Produces ideal soil conditioner and it’s FREE. (Couch Grass,
Mare's Tail, Bindweed and other problematic plants can generally be drowned for a
RECYCLING CENTRES: The one at Avonmouth is particularly good.
GREEN BIN: BCC currently charge £21 for a bin and £32 annual service
charge. Service charge £3 discount for paying by Direct Debit. (Lower rates
GARDEN WASTE SACKS: BCC provided. Pack of 25 = £25.00 Includes the

BURYING: Deeply dig in on the allotment. Better if cut or shredded.
FENCING: Build a barrier with sticks/Raspberry canes etc. (See next
